Many modern wood windows include low-maintenance features while bringing a natural feel to your home's interior.
Design Windows and Doors Inc. installs wood replacement windows that offer all the beauty and warmth of solid-wood windows with exceptional energy efficiency and low maintenance.
It's no secret that wood windows require more maintenance than vinyl and fiberglass windows. Real wood frames require sealing, staining or painting to prolong the beauty and performance of the windows. The good news is many manufacturers offer wood-clad windows that look and feel like wood, yet are completely low maintenance for years of lasting beauty.
If you're looking for new wood windows with little upkeep, we offer several options. Call us or email us to schedule your free in-home consultation for window replacement in Rancho Cucamonga, Victorville, Rialto, Hesperia, Chino, Chino Hills, Upland or nearby.
M. Kallen wanted to replace his existing builder-grade vinyl windows with stain grade wood windows on the front of his home. When your home is located in a historical area, the city's planning department often will require that the replacement windows be of the same material that you are replacing. The idea behind this is that the home does not lose it's character due to the window replacement.
Kevin Y. in Pomona wanted to upgrade his nearly 100-year-old windows to dual-pane, energy efficient windows. But the city of Pomona will not allow typical fiberglass or vinyl replacement windows to be used in a historical home. In this case, the planning department required the window installation to be with wood windows to match the original. Additionally, the city has recently adopted a growing requirement that requires the window installer to prove that we recycled over 50% of the waste generated by the project.
To ensure compliance with the city requirements, we first used Paramount Wood Windows, taking care to have them manufactured with sticking and profiles that closely matched the originals. In the photos, you will note the three muntin bars in the windows near the entry door (center of the home). They match nearly perfectly with the existing windows. Yet, these new windows are double-strength glass, dual pane, and have LoE Glass for maximum energy efficiency.
We removed the sashes of the old windows, but preserved the original frame and external sill. Those were made of Redwood nearly a century ago, and were in spectacular condition. This method is known as a block-frame retrofit install. So by doing this, we were able to really preserve the aesthetic of the home, while giving Kevin new windows that operate perfectly and will also help with energy consumption and comfort in the home.
Pomona has done a great job preserving their historical homes, and we were proud to be a part of preserving this beautiful vintage home through our quality window replacement work!
